Welcome to the Little Namu Blog

Why I started writing about emotional intelligence for families — and what you can expect here.

Welcome. I'm so glad you're here.

I started Little Namu because of a moment that shook me. My son — quiet, thoughtful, not one to wear his heart on his sleeve — had just had a hard day at school. When I asked him how he was doing, he gave me the answer every parent dreads: "I don't know."

I genuinely believed him. Not because he was hiding from me. But because he truly didn't have the tools to access what he was feeling. And in that moment, I realised — neither did I.

Most of us were never taught emotional intelligence as children. We were told to toughen up, to calm down, to stop crying. We were not taught to name what we felt, to sit with it, to share it safely with another person.

And now here we are — parents — trying to raise emotionally healthy kids when nobody taught us the skills to do it ourselves.

What this blog is about

This is a space for honest, practical, research-informed writing about:

  • How to raise emotionally intelligent children (without having all the answers yourself)
  • The science of feelings — what's actually happening in the body and brain
  • Real stories from real families, including our own
  • How to use Feeling Cards in everyday life, not just special moments
  • What I'm learning as I build this company, raise my kids, and figure it out as I go

Who I am

My name is Anne. I'm a parent, a researcher of emotional intelligence, and the founder of Wayfeeling — the company behind Feeling Cards and the Little Namu brand.

I live in Seattle, Washington with my family. I created Feeling Cards after years of trying to find something — a book, a tool, a practice — that would help my family feel together more intentionally. I couldn't find it. So I made it.

Once a week, I'll share a new post here. Some will be practical. Some will be personal. All will be honest.

If you'd like to receive them in your inbox, join the mailing list. As a welcome gift, I'll send you the free printable Feeling Cards so you can start right away.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
